Claim £2,500 per EV charging point socket

Electric vehicles play a vital role in improving air quality in the UK, which is why the new Government incentive for state-funded education institutes in England is a big push in accelerating the uptake of EV charging facilities.

With 75% off the cost to buy and install chargepoints up to a maximum of: 

£2,500 per socket 
40 sockets across all sites (this includes any applications made previously through the Workplace Charging Scheme)

To be eligible for this grant, you must have:

an existing or future need for charging an electric vehicle 
designated off-street parking facilities that are clearly associated with your premises (the parking may be used by customers, guests, visitors, staff or others) 
had a site survey done by an installer, who has confirmed that your site can support EV charging 
not have applied for a grant for the same chargepoint under the EV infrastructure grant for staff and fleets or any other grant scheme  
have the authority to apply for the Workplace Charging Scheme on behalf of your organisation

Academy trusts:

Academy trusts can apply for up to the maximum of 40 sockets for each institution within the academy trust. 

Independent schools:

Can still apply for funding of £350 per socket through the Workplace Charging Scheme

We’d like electric vehicle chargers for our school, where do we start?

We will offer a FREE site assessment to schools to establish the number of chargers that can feasibly be installed subject to the electrical supply and parking facility. This will also help us to provide an accurate quote for the work. We will work with you to ensure the right EV chargers to meet your requirements are specified and once our quote is accepted, we will project manage from start to finish and will handover to you when the works are completed.

What if we require groundworks?

We have a dedicated ground working team who will carry this out on our behalf and the cost will be included in our quote.sc

Is there a grant available and who can apply for the grant?

State funded education institutes including multi-trust academies (MTAs) can apply for up to £2,500 off per socket up to 40 sockets per school – that includes per school within an Academy Trust. Independent and private schools can still apply for a grant but it is the Workplace Charging Scheme grant that pays £350 per socket.

How do we apply for the grant?

How long is the grant available for?

The grant is available until March 2025.

What if we have already received funding in the financial year?

Minimal Financial Assistance declaration is no longer required for schools under the state-sponsored institute funding scheme and it no longer effects their eligibility for the grant scheme.

How do we charge drivers for using the chargers?

All of the chargers we install for schools have back-office management software by providers such as Monta, Fuuse or Tap Electric and this enables charge point owners (i.e. schools) to set the tariff and track charging. We will of course provide training on the setting up.

Do you offer servicing and maintenance packages?

We do offer PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) packages which is a great way to ensure that your EV chargers stay in good working condition to protect your investment and avoid interruptions to charging.
