Do you have a question about electric vehicle charging or the OLEV grant? Hopefully you will find the answer here but if not, give us a call 0330 666 0100.

Up until now, te OLEV grant was set at £500 for homes and businesses but for all installations taking place on or after 1st April 2020, the grant for these schemes will be set at £350 towards the cost of purchase and installation of a chargepoint at home through the electric vehicle homecharge scheme, and £350 towards a chargepoint socket at work through the workplace charging scheme.

The change in the grant will enable twice as many people to benefit from a grant (from 30,000 to 57,000 under the EVHS). This will support the expected increase in the update of electric vehicles.

The government is also pleased to announce 2 further changes of:

  • we are extending who can benefit from the EVHS scheme to include larger electric motorbikes. Currently only electric cars and vans are eligible
  • we are addressing the needs of businesses by doubling the number of sockets allowed under the workplace charging scheme from 20 to 40

The Workplace Charging Scheme or WCS, is a voucher-based scheme designed to provide eligible applicants with support towards the costs of the purchase and installation of EV charge points. Contributions are limited to 75% of purchase and installation costs, up to a maximum of £350 for each socket, up to a maximum of 40 across all sites for each applicant.

You can apply for the scheme using the online application portal. If your eligibility check is successful, you will be issued a unique identification voucher code via email which you then pass to us prior to the installation date.

WCS vouchers are valid for four months, therefore installation must be completed within this time.  Vouchers will be issued confirming eligibility, but please be aware that until you receive a unique identification voucher code, there is no guarantee that you will receive the grant.
