Save money with OLEV
So you have taken the plunge and decided to switch to electric or PHEV. To begin with, you may use a 3-pin plug to charge but then realise that it takes far too long and there are better options out there for a quicker charging time.
Currently, there are government grants available from OLEV (Office for Low Emission Vehicles) for households and businesses to save money when installing EV charge points.
The Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) is a great incentive for domestic charging, offering £500 off the cost of installing an electric car charging point. What’s more, you can claim for up to two charge points per household per eligible vehicle, that’s a saving of £1000! You do need to meet criteria such as off road parking, and your vehicle must be on the eligible vehicles list.
The Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) is a voucher scheme whereby businesses can apply for the scheme using the online application portal and if successful, can claim up to £500 for each socket, up to a maximum of 20 sockets across all sites. These vouchers are valid for 4 months so installation needs to be completed before the expiry date shown on the voucher.
